MedicalMet's September 2025 update introduces merged medication billing for cleaner patient invoices, auto-fill birthday from Malaysian IC numbers, and a bill-to function for corporate and third-party billing scenarios.

Product Update — September 2025: Merged Medication Billing, Auto-Fill Birthday from IC & Bill-To Function

September 2025 focused on billing workflow improvements that save your team time on every patient encounter. Cleaner invoices, smarter registration, and flexible third-party billing — all based on what clinic teams told us they needed most.

Cleaner Invoices with Merged Medication Lines

When a patient receives multiple medications in one visit, the invoice can now group related items together instead of listing each one separately. Patients receive a cleaner, more readable invoice — and your dispensing records and inventory tracking remain detailed behind the scenes.

A GP clinic in Petaling Jaya told us their patients used to get confused by invoices listing eight separate medication lines. With merged billing, the same visit produces a much simpler document that patients actually understand.

Auto-Fill Birthday from IC Number

Malaysian IC numbers already contain the date of birth. MedicalMet now reads it automatically during patient registration — one less field for your front desk to type, one less chance for a data entry mistake. Combined with IC auto-formatting from January, your team simply types the IC number and everything else follows.

Bill-To Function for Corporate and Third-Party Billing

Clinics often need to bill someone other than the patient — an employer for a company medical check-up, an insurance provider for a panel claim, or a family member covering the bill. The new bill-to function lets you specify who should be billed while keeping the patient's clinical records linked to their own profile.

Clinics that do corporate health screenings or serve families have found this particularly useful — no more workarounds with manual notes or separate invoices.

Faster Insurance Panel Pricing

Insurance panel pricing now loads faster across the board. Clinics managing large panel pricing tables and patients with multiple active panels will notice invoices opening more quickly — a small speed improvement that adds up across a busy day.

Other Improvements

This month also includes a tax rate selector for invoices, a calendar shortcut for creating appointments quickly, room numbers on the queue display, practitioner title options (Dr., Prof., etc.), improved invoice PDF layouts, and better prescription listing with date and IC display. As always, updates are deployed automatically.

“Malaysian IC numbers already contain the patient's birthday — we just read it automatically. Small automations like this save your front desk a few seconds per patient, but across hundreds of registrations, that time adds up to hours.”
